Sony reacts to information In Spider-Man 3, Tobey Maguire and Andrew spider man Garfield could return.
According to the studio, there is some truth to the rumours that Tobey Maguire and Andrew spider man Garfield may return for Spider-Man 3. Reports that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will both reprise their roles as Peter Parker in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3 have been refuted by Sony Pictures, the production company behind the Spider-Man films.
The rumours, which suggested that the two previous Spider-Men might make a comeback as a result of some multiverse hijinks, were extensively disseminated online, but ET Canada has now heard from Sony that no casting has been confirmed. The studio released a statement saying, “Those rumoured castings are not confirmed.” However, take note that there isn’t a categorical rejection that Maguire and Garfield may return.
While the idea of the two actors reprising their roles once seemed like absurd fan-casting, recent reports that Jamie Foxx is reprising his role as Electro and that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will be Parker’s mentor in Spider-Man 3 have suggested a live-action Spider-Verse could be in the works.According to the first story, Maguire and Garfield may make an appearance in Spider-Man 3 and would show up in the film’s last act to aid Holland in defeating Electro, who would be joined by additional Spider-Man bad guys. Take that with a webbed-fistful of salt since, as the studio pointed out, this isn’t confirmed.
Who better to assist the young Web-Slinger if Electro shows up from another realm than a sorcerer knowledgeable about other dimensions and magic? Hopefully Cumberbatch’s part goes beyond just acting as Tony Stark’s successor following the hero’s stubborn demise in Avengers: Endgame. Since Stark and Stephen Strange have frequently been likened because of their sardonic humour, their relationship may develop similarly. In Atlanta, Spider-Man 3 is now filming, while Cumberbatch is getting ready to begin production on Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Spider-Man 3 will once again be directed by Jon Watts, with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers penning the screenplay. The sequel is being produced by Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel, and Amy Pascal. The release of Black Widow, which was postponed to May 7, 2021, is still months away, but in the meanwhile, take a look at all the forthcoming films coming out in 2020 and beyond.
